Autumn is a wonderful time of year, bringing changing colours, cooler days and plenty of opportunities to get creative. At Lenthall House, residents have been getting into the seasonal spirit with a colourful craft activity as they begin looking forward to Halloween.
Lenthall House Halloween and Autumn activities are a lovely opportunity for residents to celebrate the changing seasons together. This time, residents created their own textured pumpkin pictures using a fun homemade paint mixture, resulting in some wonderfully colourful and unique Halloween artwork.
Lenthall House Halloween and Autumn Activities Get Creative
Lenthall House Halloween and Autumn activities give residents plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season while taking part in something creative and engaging. Seasonal crafts are a lovely way to bring the colours and celebrations of Autumn into the home.
For this activity, spooky pumpkin pictures were printed ready for residents to decorate. However, rather than using ordinary paint, the group decided to make something a little more interesting.
Shredded tissue paper was mixed with water and glue before paint was added to create a thick, colourful paste. Residents could then use the mixture to decorate their pumpkin pictures, creating different textures and bringing each design to life.
The finished pumpkins were full of colour and personality, with every resident creating something slightly different.

Creating Colourful Halloween Pumpkins
There was plenty of fun involved in making the textured paint itself. Residents could get involved with mixing the different materials together and watching as the ingredients gradually transformed into a colourful paste.
Once everything was ready, it was time to start decorating.
Residents used the mixture to fill their pumpkin pictures, experimenting with colours and textures along the way. The activity allowed everyone to approach their artwork in their own way, resulting in a fantastic collection of individual pumpkin designs.
There were plenty of smiles as the pictures began to take shape, and everyone could enjoy seeing what their friends were creating too.
Creativity and Individuality at Lenthall House
Arts and crafts provide residents with an opportunity to express their creativity and try something different. There is no single right way to create something, which means everyone can add their own ideas and personality to their work.
The pumpkin activity was a great example of this. Residents could choose how they wanted to decorate their pictures, how much texture they wanted to add and how their finished pumpkin would look.
Activities involving mixing, spreading and decorating can also encourage residents to use their hands and fingers while concentrating on the task in front of them. Hand-eye coordination and fine motor movements were naturally incorporated into the activity while everyone focused on creating their designs.
Most importantly, residents were able to enjoy themselves and take pride in seeing their finished artwork.
Enjoying Halloween and Autumn Together
Lenthall House Halloween and Autumn activities are also about spending enjoyable time together. Sitting around the table for a craft session creates plenty of opportunities for conversation, laughter and sharing ideas.
Seasonal activities can also encourage reminiscing. Autumn and Halloween may bring back memories of previous celebrations, family traditions and experiences of the changing seasons over the years.
As everyone worked on their pumpkins, there was time to chat and enjoy each other’s company. It helped turn a simple craft session into a lovely shared experience.
The activity also brought a little more Autumn colour into the home. With the finished pumpkins ready to be admired, it certainly felt as though Halloween was getting closer.
